A 1908-built slaughterhouse and livestock market of Arganzuela transformed into an art centre / cinema.

The fragile balance among the different finishes, materials, lights, spacious volumes and their industrial scale make up for a seductive place, especially for them vintage-lovers, and a spectacular effect.

Kolumba Museum | Atelier Peter Zumthor

Continuity between present and past in the main theme of the project: the competition annuncement clearly stated that the museum had to be settled in the recently discovered archeological site. The city of Cologne (Germany) needed a museum that could be both a box for a permanent attractions, the remnants, but also an adaptable space for temporary exhibitions.
